Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She has won numerous awards for her work and has even won an Oscar. Her acting career began with Broadway by performing in a range of Broadway as well as Off Broadway initiatives. In her early years, Helen Keller was her favorite character in a 5th class production. In the fifth grade, after having mumps she lost hearing in the left ear. However, she did not let that stop her. At college, she was a theatre student and later moved from Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her goal. Hunter met Beth Henley by chance in an lift. They wrote together Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The play was Hunter's first acting debut. Following her move into Los Angeles she tried to get film roles and bagged the role of a co-star on Swing Shift. For the past 30 years she's appeared in many TV and film shows. Holly Hunter won a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
